Derivatives can be used like insurance cover against certain types of business risks such as fluctuations in the rate of foreign exchange, fluctuations in the rate of interest on borrowings, fluctuations in the value of specified assets. Derivative is a vast and complex subject. It is not safe to enter into derivatives unless you are proper advised and have completely understood the structure of the transaction, and realize the risk factor.
