Recently, a Client who had miserably lost his case before the New South Wales (NSW) Supreme Court Division pertaining to his entitlement over partnership stocks worth more than $200,000 due to one of the reasons of being ill advised and badly represented by his lawyer before the Court, approached our law firm for assisting him to represent himself in the NSW Supreme Court, Court of Appeals.
We agreed to assist the Client, and extensively studied his case, and prepared the Appeals, Motions, Case Briefs and Written Arguments for him. We also provided oral instructions to the Client about how to argue the case and convince the judge, and also conducted online mock rehearsal of the hearing of the case, so as to give the client ample training and confidence to represent himself in the Court and face the Judge and counter the opponent counsels.
Backed with our legal support, the Client represented himself before the NSW Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, and was able to convince the Court of Appeal to hear his Appeal on merits, and was also able to persuade the Court of Appeal to grant motion of stay against the opponent from removing or disposing of the stocks in question, pending such Appeal. The stunning initial success in the Court of Appeal, gave an edge to the Client, as also completely disquieted the opponents, who latter opted to settle the matter out of the Court with the Client rather than going with contesting the Appeal. This was like a starling victory for the Client, who had completely lost his case before the Court below.
